Consuelo, a pretty but poor country girl, moves to Mexico City in search of a job. She gets one in a stocking factory and is pursued by the factory's owner, the lecherous Rene. At first Consuelo resists his advances, but eventually she consents to marry him. Not very long after the marriage Rene resumes his womanizing ways and takes up with his previous mistress. Complications ensue.
