Martin Kanine is just a dumb mutt who is useless to his master when he takes him duck hunting. His master says 'retrieve' and the dog doesn't even know what the word means. His master tells him to fetch his gun and the dog brings back a stick instead. Worthless! The hunter decides to send his poor dog to the pound, but Martin pleads to be sent to dog college instead. His master agrees, but comes to regret his decision. Whereas the dog was once worthless, he is now irritatingly superior. The man tries to show up his newly cunning canine, but the dog gets the best of him every time.
