The Herd

In 1929, a plan was devised by the Canadian government to transport a herd of reindeer across Alaska to aid the Inuit living in the Mackenzie delta: the trip was to take a year and a half: in fact, it took six years, and was complicated by the competing interests of those involved in the venture.
