The Woman and the Beast

After Italian immigrant John marries Rosa, a beautiful widow, family tensions arise between them when Rosa's former suitor reappears. His even-tempered demeanor is construed by his wife as weakness. After the circus comes to town, an escaped lion and the stabbing death of one of the circus laborers give John the chance to redeem himself with his wife.
