"A Handful of Stars" is one of the three plays in Billy Roche's Wexford Trilogy. In 1993, the BBC filmed the stageplay with the cast from the 1993 Bush Theatre (London) production. A Handful of Stars takes place in a pool hall where a miniature pay-as-you-go table awaits the town youths while beyond these double doors into another room is the Members Only part of the hall where the large snooker table and poker table await the men of the town.
