Content: Thomas is thirty years old but mentally on the level of a five-year-old. He lives with his father in a lonely gate-keeper's house. The boy, unpredictable and vigorous, is too much for the father, who, himself, has had many disappointments in life. But Thomas has still one hope: that one of the passing trains may stop and take Thomas and his mother to the seaside.
