Present for a Bride

"Present For a Bride", in this "Scotland Yard Featurette" released in the US by Paramount with Paul Douglas substituted for the British host, is actually "The Wedding Present" segment of the UK "Tale of Three Women" feature release: A dapper London ne-er-do-well, Max, conspires with a beautiful French model, Trude, to swindle a wealthy old diamond merchant, Hines. Posing as an Austrian noblewoman, Trude marries Hines, and, later, when Max and Trude are confronted by Hines with the truth of their plans, Max murders him.
