One of the most charming commercials in existence is The Secret of the Marquise, a silhouette film by Lotte Reiniger. The silhouettes are white against black backgrounds. The reason for this reversal is because the Marquise uses Nivea cream and soap to good effect- producing her white skin that sets her suitor's heart aflutter.
