John de Rockingchair, oil magnate, is a suitor for the hand of Louise. The young lady, however, has long since decided that she will not marry any man who has money. Aside from this she loves Universal Ike. A gang of crooks learn of Rockingchair's intended visit and plot to rob him. They construct an infernal machine. This is placed in a suitcase. In the meantime Ike and Louise elope. At the railroad station the crooks, the lovers and Rockingchair come together. By mistake Ike gets the suitcase containing the infernal machine. To elude pursuers, Ike and Louise secure seats on top of the coach. Rockingchair and the parents of Louise are within, but are ignorant of the couple's presence. The crooks hold up the coach and command all passengers to throw their valuables to the ground. Ike is hasty in pitching his suitcase down. There is an explosion. The coach, horses, passengers, robbers and a portion of the landscape is thrown sky high. Louise is the first to reach the ground. Ike himself is deposited at her side. The lovers wait for the arrival of the other members of the party. They fail to appear.
