The literal translation of the title of this movie is: Clear Water Marsh. This movie made in the early era of the Chinese reform deserves some credit for its attempt of advocating reform, but the story is rather lousy. The film is made not too long after the end of the Cultural Revolution and the film crew is rather cautious, following the standard format of the movie that was common in the political propaganda films made during the Cultural Revolution. As a result, the movie was very predictable and the presentation of the plot is very rigid, and hence cannot deserves a good review like the idea it is trying to advocate.
