An empty pill bottle rolls toward the hand of a man who's crumpled on the floor. The film goes backwards: we see pills come out of his mouth; him sitting at a desk, his head in his hands; a written note slowly becomes a blank sheet of paper as a pen moves across it. Is this a suicide? Interjected into this backward-running film are several scenes, which run forward in time, seen a surveillance monitor. They provide a context and a coda.
