More than simply a great author, Ernst Lubitsch is the inventor of the famous "Lubitsch touch". His name is associated with sophisticated comedies, champagne and... Swiss cheese, thanks to one of his fervent admirers, François Truffaut who declared that "in the Lubitsch gruyere, every hole is a masterpiece." This was in homage to his sense of the ellipse and his style that made the spectator a character in every sense of the word.
