Manuela ou L'impossible plaisir

David, a young and ambitious photographer, needs to find a new job. He starts working at a photo and film lab run by Lucie, who is married to a good-natured teacher. Soon he finds out about the secret thing she has going. Lucie films friends and couples during sexual intercourse and produces tapes for their and her own enjoyment. Fascinated by the medium film and the component of motion which is new to him, David starts taking over the operation and increasingly runs the danger of losing his mental stability and going over the artistic edge. At the same time, his girlfriend Aurore, who sometimes models for David, practices for a dancing audition. She is being trained by her former lover, who still has a crush on her. When David disconnects, she starts losing her emotional and technical confidence. Will she make it?
