A woman drives a car while putting on lipstick, a man tries unsuccessfully to dig through hard ground with a shovel, a second man cruises a record shop, and a mom sends a lad of eight and a half, who's dressed in a cowboy outfit, outside to play. The driver is ditching a car, the digger is disposing of a body, the cruiser has to dump a gun, and mom is giving the orders. What's going on: flashbacks give us most of the answers.
