Admiral Jang Bogo clears the sea of pirates and establishes safe trade routes between China, Japan and the ancient Korean kingdom of Shilla. Eventually however, his ambitions lead him to kill the king and set up a puppet leader to whom he tries to marry his daughter and secure the throne for his bloodline.
