Set within the Brazilian community of Astoria, in Queens, New York, the film depicts the conflict in communication between a young Brazilian poet named Claudio and his girlfriend, Sandra. When she announces her pregnancy, an already unstable Claudio obliges to her wish of keeping the child. But soon thereafter doubt sets into Claudio's mind as he must come to terms with what is most important in his life away from his home country.
