When old Guk-gwang dies suddenly, his fortune passes to his son Chang-shik. Unaccostumed to the sudden freedom, Chang-shik becomes a drug addict. Control of the land and wealth is soon passed on to Wang-geun, Guk-gwang's illegitimate child, but he is not at all impressed with his sudden good fortune
