Les jumeaux du bout du monde

Twins in the sign of destiny (Les Jumeaux du Bout du Monde) is a French animated television series in 1991, created by the writer Jean Chalopin and produced by AB production. In France it was broadcast by TF1; the series arrived in Italy in the fall of 1992, aired on Channel 5 in the program for boys Bim Bum Bam and replicated several times (at least four aired) until 1999. The series consists of 52 episodes, tells the story of two boys, Mark and Marika (in the original Jules and Julie), that traveling between Europe and Asia are trying to defeat the Empress Dowager of China to rid their fathers, which she transformed statues thanks to a curse. It is not clear at all if the Empress referred to by the cartoon is Cixi or another, however, considering the time of setting of the cartoon, the clear references to the Forbidden City, and the excessive power of the empress in question (as well as the stereotype of his cruelty) is likely, or even obvious, to believe that the latter is just Cixi.
