Cultural differences between a girl's home in Asia and her home away from home in America take shape, as young Sine, from Thailand, crosses the Pacific to visit her friend Audrey, in America. In an attempt to bring a touch of home to her American family, Sine bakes curry cookies. This creates tension at first, as Sine feels rejected by the family's adverse reaction to the cookies' unexpected taste, but ultimately it opens the door for meaningful dialogue between Sine and her adopted American family.
