Justice Runners
A computer animation that sees a landscape of railway tracks open to reveal a large building under the ground which then releases a group of electric tram cars in a high speed race to their destination. Visually the film does look pretty cool at times and you can see the attention to detail and work that has gone into creating it. It does lose it a bit at the end when it tries to bring in characters (or people anyway) and the point is lost at the same time as the style but mostly it is cool to look at.However I did wonder if it was cool enough to cover up for the lack of substance ? which is highlighted at the end ? or indeed anything else like ideas or wit. This was a problem for me. I'm all for style over substance but the style has got to be very strong to cover for there being nothing else behind it. That was not the case here. Yes it was pretty cool but with nothing else really on the table for me I did struggle to see why I would ever watch it again; after all, it isn't that cool.Overall a slick film that is technically pretty good but has nothing beyond the occasional cool and stylish section to make it more than a showcase for Tomioka and team's skills as animators.
