History leaves us no more vivid example of the faithlessness of man than the love affair of Louise de la Valliere and Louis XIV, King of France. Louise loved the King, and he loved her for a time. The episode is enacted in this film by a cast of star players in the country in which the tragedy actually occurred, and in a manner which makes it the last word in realistic photography.
