A young Polish boy is faced with a life changing decisions during WWII that involves his loving mother. As war looms outside a quiet cabin on the outskirts of Poland , a young boy and his deaf and mute mother are faced with starvation; a decision has to be made of who will go out and risk their lives for food. The young boy is afraid of the draft enforced by Germany while the mother faces loosing her only son. The decision is made. On the other side of the story are two childhood friends, created into Nazi soldiers, who have grown apart during the war due to different beliefs are on a routine patrol around the area. The conflict starts when Krzysztof sees the soldiers approaching the cabin, faced with uncertainty of his mothers wellbeing he makes a decision to hide out and watch. All of a sudden as mother heads back to the cabin, she is confronted by Paul who throws her to the ground and fires a shot. Krzysztof sees his mother and makes one brave but deadly decision.
