"Shalom" shows Jake praying in an ornate and peaceful synagogue with his grandfather, which is simultaneously interwoven with a dramatic and tragic story of the heart failure and death of a loved man. It soon becomes apparent that these scenarios are happening concurrently and Jake's grandfather is praying with him in spirit only. The film is predominantly set in Bevis Marks Synagogue.
