On July 4, 1976, after one of their compatriots was denied entry into a Fire Island Pines restaurant, nine drag queens from nearby Cherry Grove arrived by flotilla in the Pines Harbor, in protest. Their small rebellion has evolved into the annual Invasion of the Pines -- the most unusual Independence Day celebration anywhere. In his first documentary film, "Invasion of the Pines," Jon Morrow tells the story of this one-of-a-kind event.
