The man's weakness is submerged in the woman's strength and her sacrifice saves him. In the ensuing years the lesson taught him bears its fruit and in maturity his is a noble work, that of giving light to the blind, when, at the height of his new-found happiness, he finds that the sin of his youth has found him out, and then comes despair, darkness.
