The filmmaker accompanies three people - two Americans and a Coasta Rican - through his German hometown in search of cultural differences to define their cultural identities. Along the way they find guns, soft drinks, public transportation, the 2006 soccer world championship and the fact that an answer to the question "What is German" is not easily provided.
