Against the backdrop of the widespread national anxiety toward immigrants, Homeland Insecurity is a quirky dark comedy about what happens to an Iranian-American coffeehouse owner who tries to stimulate business for his struggling cafe. The owner deliberately arouses suspicion in order to bring intelligence agents into the cafe to increase his sales. With the ensuing misunderstandings and cultural divides, the film is a parody about the growing culture of mistrust and the resulting hyper-surveillance and misuse of resources. Silent, black and white, original score and sound effects. 19 minutes
