Lara was abandoned by her mother when she was five years old. Conceiçao found her in the street and decided to keep her. Lara has a strong personality and is a kick boxer. She gets a job in Martim's company and they fall in love with each other. However, they can't date, because they're both in different relationships. Lara is dating Conceiçao's son, Chico, and Martim is dating the powerful and mean Madalena. Besides that, Lara hides from Martim that she is a kick boxer, until the day she has to quit kick boxing due to a injury. Martim also struggles with sports: He quit SuperTouring after his wife had died in a car crash. Lara, Conceiçao and Chico live in Alfama and the whole point of the story is to portray life in small districts.
