Milagros is an orphaned teenage girl. Although she is outspoken, rebellious and irreverent, she can also be sweet and wants what every normal girl wants. She loves soccer and plays it well, so much so that in the convent where she was raised they called her Miligoal. At 18 she has to leave the convent and finds a job as a companion to Regina Belmonte, the matriarch of a wealthy family. Regina is immediately taken with the girl’s unassuming ways, but the rest of her family cannot stand her outgoing nature and uncivilized manners. Regina’s grandson Alejandro is a typical rich young man who avoids commitment and is used to having women fall for his charm. He is intrigued by Milagros, who thinks he is an unbearable jerk, and her candidness and honesty finally win his heart. They fight a lot, they argue all the time, and little by little they fall in love. However, Milagros refuses to accept her feelings because Alejandro has a reputation as a womanizer, and she is afraid of being deserted like her mother was. Also, Alejandro is engaged to Andrea.
