An young, black woman, Denise Williams, works as a news reporter for a daily news show called Real News Atlanta. After years of wearing her hair straight at work, Denise arrives one day in her natural hair due to a mishap with her hairdresser. Her manager, Todd, thinks Denise's new hairstyle is inappropriate for the air and urges her to change it immediately.
