Penelope dreams of her beloved geese in a disturbing portent of her husband Ulysses' imminent return. She is watched over by the all seeing Athene. Meanwhile, her son, Telemachus, runs to the shore, where he sees a ship on the horizon and Laertes, Ulysses' father, despairs of ever seeing his son again.
