In the not-so-distant future, pharmacists sell drugs corresponding to every conceivable emotion. Joy, contentment, fear, envy, and everything in between are sold in pill bottles, baked into food like spices, and released into the air like air fresheners. One young drugstore cashier, however, is miffed when an old man tries to buy a bottle of different kind of feeling: pain.
