Gotra (Maahit Naahi)

Nitin's father Manohar Gaitonde was manual labor. He was a very lovable father to Nitin who has left no stone unturned to fulfill all the needs of his family. He was an alcoholic and use to drink country made liquor to get a good sleep at night after the hardship. Once he had an adulterated liquor of which he succumbed to death. Nitin often heard his father saying "Nitin, One day I will have good clothes and expensive liquor" that led Nitin to do the odd jobs during Ganesh Chaturthi so that he has enough money to fulfills his father's wish. He buys expensive liquor with the money from the dingy lanes of Versova, carries a pair of good clothes, and travels the whole night to reach Powai lake so that he can immerse clothes and liquor for his father at the Shraaddha. Shraaddha is an event to pay respect and homage to the ancestors as it starts immediately after Ganesh Chaturthi.
