Rope is the light-hearted and whimsical story of a middle-aged woman suffering from 'Empty Nest' syndrome, who one day finds unexpected companionship from a large, blonde rope she finds in the northeast corner of her neighbor Dorothy's yard. We follow her as she spends a series of wonderful and meaningful moments with the rope, all the while forgetting about her husband who is busy clearing land mines from the Laos/Cambodia border and having an affair with his assistant, the lovely miss holly. Things suddenly take a drastic turn when a young girl falls down a nearby ravine and Rope is forced to spring into action.
