The total number of lepers in Vietnam remains unknown due to social taboo and government cover-up, but in the small village of Ca Mau in the heart of the jungle 600 lives are afflicted. Ngu, an elderly woman crippled by years of Leprosy, lives in a shack on the Mekong River with her rebellious son. Widowed and unable to work for fear of further disabling herself, she relies on the help of a priest, Fr. Muoi. As the monsoon season is imminent, Ngu fears her makeshift home will collapse. Will Fr. Muoi be able to build her a sturdier house before the storm comes? Will this be the year Ngu loses her home and everything she has?
