Episcopal deacons, priests, bishops and lay folk from around the country discuss The Sacred Order of Deacons. Entirely without narration, and refreshingly candid, the diaconate is defined and described. Deacons share their stories and talk about their ministries, and are seen living out their roles in both the liturgy and in the community by proclaiming the gospel and feeding the hungry. Filming began in Columbus, Ohio at the 75th General Convention in June 2006 allowing for a diverse sampling of Episcopalians with a wide range of often controversial opinions. Various views of equality among the orders are presented. Called to Love and Serve also includes footage of the Ordination of a Deacon.
