John and his sister Clorinda travel by Stage Coach to Texas where their con-man father leaves them to peddle his snake oil. While they are out of sight the opening battle of the Mexican American War ensues. The children are caught up in a terrible conflict that will ultimately result in an exploration of character. Who are these children, and who will they become?
