An American Prayer is about ordinary Americans in an extraordinary time, caught between love, duty, desire, and stereotype. It was shot over 10 weeks in 2020 at the pandemic's height in 5 cities in the USA, Mexico, and Russia. It features anguished, ecstatic, conflicted individuals whose lives swing between despair and devotion and whose belief in the American Dream is being tested by contradictory forces. The film portrays unseen characters and unheard voices that conjure an alternative vision of the USA, and the themes tackled are urgent and immediate.
