Happenstance shows the chance encounter of an elderly Holocaust survivor with a young neo-Nazi. When the two women first pass each other outside a market, the swastika-emblazoned Sarah shoots a racist insult at the grandmotherly Helen, who is waiting in the rain clutching a bag of groceries. A lonely widower, Helen is calmly ready to say goodbye to the world and was shopping for her final meal. Her plans change, however, when she hears an agonized scream at the door: sobbing in a pool of blood is Sarah, who has been brutally raped and stabbed. Helen must decide whether to let the injured girl in, and Sarah must learn to look past her racism and allow her to be helped.
