Mitch owes money to the evil Mr Spackman. If he fails to pay by noon, a couple of heavies will visit violent retribution upon him. Salvation arrives in the form of tomorrow's newspaper with the results of races yet to be run. This happens several days in a row allowing Mitch to pay off his debts. But his dramatic change of fortune triggers a visit by Spackman's thugs who demand to know his secret.
