Just A Girl

Kenyan wife and Italian husband who are experiencing a clash of cultures. This escalates to a life or death situation with their daughter. The wife is from a tribe that performs female genital mutilation on girls as a rite of passage and "empowerment." This long standing ritual is now illegal, however millions of girls are still having this done and dying from it because it's still happening underground and without proper procedures. This is the first time where FGM has been addressed in a fiction movie about an international family. It is an important piece because it will raise awareness how FGM is so engrained in the culture of certain tribes and is still happening -- even internationally.
