'Children are the emperors of our country' reads the Kim Il Sung motto blazoned across the wall in the entrance hall of the pupil's palace. This institution, situated in a pre-fab concrete estate on one of Pyongyang's deserted main roads, has been built for the education of some 5,000 students. This luxurious site comprises a modern, fully-equipped, 2,000-seat amphitheater, a swimming pool and endless communal rooms. At the end of the film, a children's choir sings: 'We are the bodyguards and the shock brigades.'
