The story is based around the character of TOBY, a man in his mid-thirties, who lost his son to the sea. Haunted by his memories of this event, he finds his life dominated by his relationship with the sea and has become a recluse buried in his own guilt. That is until Kate, an attractive, young vivacious girl appears and turns Toby's world upside down. She begins to show Toby how to live again, until that is Kate's past begins to catch up with her.
