The desire to experience a life outside the randomness, the banality, and cruelty of modern life is mirrored in a central tension between two brothers: the slightly older Charles, who aspires to a respectable middle-class life, and the younger Manny who harbors deep contempt for a society in which his immigrant mother struggled joylessly to survive. As he frantically traverses the city on his way to pull of an elaborate heist, Manny's claustrophobic logic leads him into the criminal underbelly of the city where there can be no turning back and where decisions take on fearful mortal consequence.
