The film listens to the words of eight people who have been formerly homeless. Of all different races, genders, and family types, their causes of homelessness range from loss of jobs to domestic violence. All of the interviewees share the experience of at one time or another being in the Interfaith Hospitality Network homeless shelter. Besides their traumatic pasts, all of the people find salvation in one way or another while receiving shelter from the network of churches that make up IHN. While the shelter provides temporary support, the lives of the families are not set for the future. Many of the members of the shelter are able to get up on their feet and begin modest livings for their families. However, several families continue to face financial troubles that make homelessness a constant presence. No matter what their fate may be, all of the people reflect that while they stayed at IHN, they received a moment in their lives of rest and support.
