Mark, 27, is a C.O.D.A., Child of Deaf Adults, who recently lost his mother. His father, ken, although deaf is a talented musician and piano teacher. Since the death, Ken's actions appear to be in denial with lack of emotional release and his habit of continuous piano playing. Unable to understand his father's reaction to their loss, a once strong bond has rapidly deteriorated. Filled with anger and confusion, Mark can no longer stand his father's presence, a fatal blow to a relationship based on visual and physical expression. Their progression rests on Mark overcoming his battle with shame and disgust through his willingness to accept and understand his father's choice of mourning. Through an explosive finale of emotional revelation, it becomes apparent the father and son were driven apart only to be united closer than ever before.
