For some, the pictures of kamikazes inspire a blindfold terror, for others they revive a deep admiration. No matter what feelings these images evoke, they certainly never let the viewer unmoved. Before the Wind Blows is not an interpretation of the kamikazes pictures, neither is it meant to inflame the initial reactions that they trigger. By showing these men and women being humanly uncomfortable and anxious in front of a camera, this film is questioning the way we decide to look at them giving the extremely violent nature of the act that they are about to perpetrate.
