Uta is hosting Hans at her house. She cooks a lovely meal for him, all the while nervously talking too much. With time we realize that Hans has died: and sits lifeless in his chair. Yet Uta refuses to accept this and tries to keep their relationship alive. Although it is too late, she declares her love.
