In 'Murder He Wrote,' a truck is stalled on the side of the road. A passerby stops and asks if he can be of assistance. The driver of the truck urges him on, and says he doesn't need any help. The next morning, the passerby reads an alarming article in the newspaper, alerting him to a murder committed the night before, quite likely by the man he saw on the side of the road. He calls the local newspaper and says he might have a lead for them. They send a reporter over, and it's a familiar and shocking face.
