A hurricane and flood have recently swept through a small Chesapeake crabbing community. In the process of putting her house back together Iris Tilghman reflects on a milestone anniversary in her career at the local crab picking plant setting the stage for a mosaic fears and hopes where the power of her naturalistic surroundings proves to be more of an influence then she might have expected.
